Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) meeting for research collaboration and knowledge dissemination

Coastal zone planning and management is largely a state/territory responsibility, with day-to-day decision making the responsibility of local governments. However, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) Thailand has an important influence on coastal environmental policy and planning for sustanable development of Thailand coastal areas and communities. The first meeting of RESCuE project between JGSEE, KMUTT, Royal Forest Department (RFD) and DMCR was held in Thailand on Janaury 11, 2019, hosted by DMCR Bangkok head office.

There was strong interest was shown by DMCR representatives on ongoing RESCuE project activities in Trat province of Thailand.

A key theme of event was the importance of improving obervation data (setting up more monitoring stations across Thailand) in orde to improve available obsrvation data and improve the project knowledge dessimination among local and national agencies. There was also a continued discussion on long term collaboration thorugh new projects.
